Today, the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton officially decided to rename the A transversal, in the area of the municipality of Novi Grad – MZ “Dobrinja A” and “Saraj-Polje”, into the A transversal “Michael Schumacher”, in honor of a prominent humanitarian and honorary citizen of Sarajevo. Sarajevo does not forget his work done for BiH.

The seven-time world champion in Formula 1 came to the capital of BiH for the first time in 1996, and then in December next year.

Orgabized by HOPE and UNICEF, they visited the war-wounded children at Kosevo Hospital. The purpose of his visit was as part of a UNESCO project to raise money for a specialized hospital for Sarajevo’s children, victims of shelling and mines.

THE GREAT HUMANITARIAN

After the aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina, Schumacher paid for medical treatment and prostheses for children who lost their legs and arms during the war, thus gaining the sympathy of Bosnians and Herzegovinians for all time. As a special ambassador of UNESCO, he donated significant funds for projects in our city.

IN A SYMBOLIC PLACE

In 2013, Schumacher suffered a serious accident while skiing in the French Alps. He hit his head on a rock and fell into a coma, and the family does not want to reveal details about his current condition, Klix.ba writes.
