The Sarajevo Sonic Studio is organized in cooperation of the Music Academy of Sarajevo, the French Institute and the Goethe Institute within the French-German cultural fond.
The project was initiated in 2013 with a goal to develop contemporary art music in the B&H cultural environment. The lecturers in 2013 were the famous Heiner Goebbels and Philippe Manoury who led the workshops for young composers from 8 departments for composing in our region. The special success was achieved last year by the 24 world and B&H premieres of new works in the contemporary art music which exceeds the new production of the art music in the whole B&H at the annual level.
In 2014, Sarajevo Sonic Studio will present two artists who played the defining roles in the sound art of our time, Peter Ablinger in October and Vinko Globokar in November.
The studio Peter Ablinger will be held from 27th to 30st October and will include workshops for public and composers from the region, concerts of young composers, his sound performance in cooperation with the gallery Java, a concert performance of his most avant-garde works in the production of the Music Academy in cooperation with the BKC. On this occasion, the Music Academy will also present its first exposition of sound art realised in cooperation with the Gazi-Husrev Bey’s madrasah. The curator is Amila Ramović, coordinator of the Studio program.
Sarajevo Sonic Studio is the only art and education program in B&H oriented towards art practices in the contemporary music and the only regional project working on building a network of composers dedicated to production of contemporary music.
The Music Academy of Sarajevo, the French Institute and the Goethe Institut offer this event to everyone who wants to be a part of the contemporary music stream. The entrance is free.
