Dean of the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Jasmin Ahić, Ph.D. and the Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Laura Lungarotti signed a Memorandum of Cooperation today in Sarajevo.

After the signing, Ahić pointed out that the memorandum represents the basis of future institutional cooperation that will enable the faculty to participate as a partner in the processes defined by the IOM in its strategy for BiH for the period from 2022 to 2025.

“Our students will be available to participate in every segment of the IOM’s activities, especially when it comes to human rights and the best possible practices within the migration processes and especially in the area of illegal migration,” said Ahić.

Lungarotti said the signing of the memorandum is particularly important because the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies educates security professionals, from the Border Police, the Immigration Service to prosecutors.

She added that it is an opportunity for IOM to share its experiences and knowledge, but also to learn from the academic community about the latest research in key areas.

The two expressed hope that cooperation will take place in a wide range of areas and for mutual benefit.
