Head of the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Johann Sattler, told reporters today in Sarajevo that he believes there is strength among domestic actors to reach an agreement that will enable the formation of a government in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ambassador Sattler said that the state-level government was formed three months ago, as well as governments in some cantons and the Republika Srpska. Therefore, the time has come to finalize the entire process in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He stated that a lot of work has accumulated over time and remained “on hold”, so it is necessary to tackle the remaining work.
“As for some deadlines, time is running out, there are still three weeks left to reach an agreement. But, I believe there is strength among domestic actors and those responsible in reaching an agreement that will enable the formation of the government in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Sattler pointed out.
He added that he cannot imagine that there is any responsible politician who would cause further blockades.
“We have already had a government in a technical mandate for four years. It is completely unacceptable that such circumstances continue. As for solutions, I believe that solutions are possible, that it is possible to reach an agreement,” Ambassador Sattler concluded.
