At the session held yesterday, the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton reached a Decision on protection and improvement of the quality of air in the Sarajevo Canton. Among other things, this Decision brings more strict measures for issuing permits for the use of energy sources which threaten the health of people.
The Decision entails the inclusion of relevant authorities of administration and administrative organizations of the Canton, the City and municipalities, and other legal entities in the system of air quality management, identification of sources and the register of emissions into the air, limitation and monitoring of emissions into the air, the quality of air which is being determined by measuring and the assessment method based on mathematical models, the evaluation of the level of endangerment of the health of citizens and ecosystems, maintenance of flue facilities, and informing and education with the aim of improving the quality of air.
