Scandal in the BiH Prosecutor’s Office: Chief did not approve the Arrest of War Crimes Suspects

The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Milanko Kajganic, did not want to issue an arrest warrant for Petko Panic and Vinko Radovic, who are suspected of crimes against humanity under the Criminal Code of BiH, but to serve them with an invitation to report to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH as suspects for crimes against Bosniaks in Zvornik.

But what has become almost a matrix is that the two suspects fled after receiving the calls. Given the suspicions that this will happen, they were arrested by order of the prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office in the area of Border Crossing Zvornik and Border Crossing Karakaj, where members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) took them over from the Border Police of BiH.

However, even though the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH requested custody due to the danger of the suspects fleeing and the danger that they could hinder the investigation, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accomplices, the Court of BiH ordered them to be placed under house arrest!

The suspect Radovic is suspected of having, as a representative of the former civil and military authorities in Zvornik, and the suspect Panic, as the deputy police commander in Zvornik, in the spring of 1992, participated in the systematic persecution of thousands of civilians of Bosniak nationality from the towns of Djulici, Klisa and surrounding towns, as well as the illegal separation, abuse and imprisonment of about 700 men and boys between the ages of 16-70, during which the murders of several people were committed, and who were illegally imprisoned in the Technical School Center in Karakaj. During the persecution of the population, civilians were robbed, money and valuables were stolen, tractors, vehicles and other goods were stolen, after which the remaining population was sent to the territory under the control of the Republic of BiH (RBiH) Army in Kalesija.

Because of those arrested in the Sky cases, the capacity of detention units has been reduced, so this is also taken as the reason why war crimes suspects are ordered to house arrest or prohibitive measures. In this way, suspects are enabled to plan their escape, and we have already had such examples.

At the beginning of August 2021, Savcic escaped after the Court of BiH decided to place him in custody for violating the ban. However, he walked away from the Court of BiH, and a few hours later the Court Police did not find him at the address. Savcic has already escaped to Serbia, Istraga.ba writes.
