The club of representatives of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP BiH) in the Assembly of the Canton of Sarajevo announced today the topics that will be discussed at tomorrow’s session of the CS Assembly, among which is the question of the responsibility of the former director of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS) Sebija Izetbegović for the situation in that health institution.
Representative Redžo Lemezan asserted that the opposition parties and members of the CS Assembly are asking for a suspension of the work of the CS Assembly, because tomorrow the Assembly’s agenda includes a Proposal for a Decision on accepting the resignation of CS Prime Minister Nihad Uk and dismissing the CS Government.
“In the past few days, we could read that tomorrow is the change of government and that this is the most important thing that is happening. It is true, it is very important that we consider that point, the resignation of Prime Minister Uk, but I want to mention that we still have many points that concern thousands of citizens of the Sarajevo Canton,” said Lemezan.
Representative Davor Čičić pointed out that representatives in the CS Assembly must work, regardless of whether the CS Government will be in a technical mandate or not. He believes that projects and processes in Sarajevo Canton must not suffer for anything.
Čičić supported the young people protesting and demanding justice and responsibility for the tram accident that happened on February 12 in Sarajevo, and called on the protesters to be dignified and to keep the protests peaceful, as they have been until now.
Representatives Jelena Pekić and Belma Kapo announced that at the session of the CS Assembly, they will discuss the management of KCUS during the period when Sebija Izetbegović was at the head of that institution.
“The club of SDP representatives demands from the Office for the fight against corruption of Sarajevo Canton to initiate the procedure of determining individual responsibility for the management of KCUS from 2016 to 2023,” said Pekić.
SDP claims that the Collective Agreement was massively violated during that period, which is why, as they claim, KCUS is losing court cases with employees today. SDP also states that this could result in multimillion-dollar costs.
In particular, they pointed to the unavailability of certain health services for women, such as epidural analgesia and painless gynecological procedures, and the departure of a large number of doctors, including 13 anesthesiologists.
The representatives also announced that they will question the termination of the in vitro fertilization program at KCUS, even though, they stated, the equipment for that program had been acquired.
The club of SDP deputies announced that they will submit all the information to the Office for the fight against corruption, with the expectation that any elements of criminal responsibility will be forwarded to the competent judicial institutions, said Pekić and Kapo.
