The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Nenad Nesic and BiH Minister for Human Rights and Refugees Sevlid Hurtic held a meeting yesterday with the head of the European Union (EU) Delegation in BiH, Johann Sattler, where they discussed the transition plan and the responsibility of migration management.
After the meeting, Nesic emphasized that police agencies from BiH are cooperating with police agencies from the region.
“We told Sattler that BiH is ready to start the transition process, to take on the obligations given by international organizations, but that it is necessary for them to be there with their presence and to help us with finances. We informed him that the migrant crisis is not a problem of BiH but of the entire EU, that BiH is collateral damage of the migrant crisis because migrants come to us because they want to go the EU,” said Nesic.
He added that they stressed at the meeting that BiH wants to be part of European security and to show that it is on the European path.
“I stated with Minister Hurtic that our goal is EU membership and that we are glad that they understand that our patience regarding our European path is about to end. We don’t want to wait, we want to be a full member of the EU. We believe that we deserve it and that we are sufficiently developed as a society,” Nesic added.
Speaking about the migrant crisis, Nesic emphasized that the most important thing for him as the Minister of Security is the safety of the citizens of BiH.
“I will do everything to ensure that our citizens, regardless of which part of the territory they are in, are safe. We will not allow migrants to run amok and we will provide assistance to our police agencies to keep the movement of migrants under control,” concluded Nesic, Klix.ba reports.
