Selvedina Bašić from Travnik is the owner of an interesting brand called “Baška”, which produces unique bags from recycled materials.

She worked as a trader for a long time, and after the birth of her third child, she decided to start her own business because the shift work no longer suited her.

As she said in an interview with Anadolu Agency, she came up with the idea of recycling while sewing checkers and started sewing different things for clients.

“The idea of denim recycling came when I started rearranging my closets and saw a large amount of denim that I didn’t know if it should be thrown away. I brought a pair of jeans and sewed a checker for myself, I liked it and then I brought it all in and started cutting and sew. Basically, everything is a product of imagination and then I thought for a long time whether to brand it, so I decided that it could be ‘Baška’ because every bag is not the same, so it all came from my head, the arrangement of colors, the sequence”, Bašić said.

Everything can be used

She emphasizes that everything can be used, and the finished product will find a buyer, so she started making products from jeans that can be recycled.

She adds that she invested a lot of time and knowledge to create a unique product on the market that meets the needs of the modern woman, so that this hard-working woman from Travni sews various things in her shop today, from women’s bags to checkers, children’s purses, backpacks to pencil cases and toiletries.

“I sewed a pencil case for my son, which he likes to take to school, backpacks for training. My wife came to me and asked me to make her a backpack, but with a pocket for her to have when she goes to Vlašić, to put a thermos bottle in, and I did as she wanted. “, pointed out Bašić.

As she said, very often people buy her bags, backpacks and pencil cases as gifts for loved ones, adding that there is great interest in her recycled jeans bags from almost all generations.

“One of my bags ended up in Dubai, they are taken by doctors and children, schoolgirls, teenagers,” said this entrepreneur, noting that her bags have also found buyers in many European countries.

Bags as the fruit of creativity and love

She points out that she loves this job very much, which requires a lot of creativity and love, adding that she never feels tired, especially because each of her products is special and unique in itself.

He emphasizes that each bag is truly unique and this gives them a special value in a very demanding and overcrowded market.

“That’s why I gave the name ‘Baška’, every bag should be unique and special, I like it to be practical and beautiful, of course. I also plan to make embroidery on denim, meaning a combination of denim and Bosnian ethnic details,” she said.

In the end, she promised that she will continue to sew diverse products with great love and care for her customers who contact her throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region and beyond.

“I have some new ideas and articles that people can follow on my page, and I promise that there will still be a lot of surprises,” said this hard-working and creative woman from Travni, noting that people should do what they love, because often famous people are born from hobbies and big brands.
