With yesterday’s decision of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) that Vukota Govedarica has been nominated for the position of the President of Republika Srpska (RS), the election race in that entity has become much clearer. Milorad Dodik and Mladen Ivanic will start a duel among each other, when it comes to the position in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
It will be a direct fray of long-standing politicians, where the ultimate result will show the true power of both of them.
Ivanic is a current member of the BiH Presidency, as the representative of Serbian people, while Milorad Dodik has been for years a politician who has the highest rank in the RS, so this will be the first time he is running for one of the positions at the state level.
Ivanic got his current mandate largely due to the crucial votes of Bosniaks from the smaller BH entity, but we will find out whether he will still get this support in October.
The Alliance for Change believes that they can finally win the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), while Dodik on the other hand is convinced of the triumph, saying that if he wins less than 50 percent of total votes when it comes to a party, he will consider it as a failure.
