His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije begins today a two-day visit to Foča, where he will consecrate the Votive Svetosava Temple.
Patriarch Porfirije will welcome His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostom of Dabro-Bosnia in the Temple of Saint Sava in Foča with several bishops, clergy, monks and faithful people at 6:00 p.m., when the solemn act of doxology will be served.
Tomorrow, on the feast of Saint John Chrysostom, the Serbian Patriarch will serve the Holy Bishop’s Liturgy at 9:00 a.m. and consecrate the Votive Church of Saint Sava. The reception of His Holiness is at 8:30 am.
The foundations of the largest Orthodox temple in Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose area exceeds 1,500 square meters, were dedicated to the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 2006. The Church of St. Sava was covered in 2012, so that services would begin in 2013. The iconostasis was installed in 2019, and the plateau was paved the previous year.
The work in the Svetosava Temple does not end with the act of great consecration. Another big job remains to be done – painting the vaults of the temple with frescoes.
