Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today that Serbia will not stop equipping its land forces, that it will not allow itself to lag behind in the development of its army, which protects the security of Serbia and the security of its citizens.

“We want a strong army, a stable state, to preserve the integrity, independence and sovereignty of our homeland,” Vučić said in a congratulatory message on the occasion of November 16 – Land Forces Day, Infantry Day and the 110th anniversary.

Vučić stressed that the Serbian Land Forces have made a full contribution in the past period, both to the development of the operational capabilities of their branch and service, and of the Serbian army as a whole, and expressed his belief that they will continue to do so.

“Members of the Land Forces conscientiously carry out tasks from all three missions of the army, with special dedication, seriousness and professionalism in fulfilling the designated tasks of deterring armed threats and securing the administrative line towards Kosovo, and controlling the land security zone,” Vučić said.

He emphasized that much has been achieved in the modernization and upgrading of land army units, and pointed out that, thanks to the acquisition of modern weapons and military equipment, they perform the assigned tasks with excellent results in training and qualification, and that, together with other forces of the defense system, they protect the security of Serbia and its citizens.

Vučić emphasized that in the national history of the Serbs, this year is associated with numerous anniversaries of historical events of the liberation wars of Serbia, which are of exceptional importance for the culture of memory of the Serbian people and the army: the beginning of the First Serbian Uprising and World War I, the liberation of Belgrade in World War II, the pogrom of the Serbian people in Kosovo.

He mentioned the battles of Cer and Kolubara, which had “a decisive influence on the course of the liberation of our homeland in the Great War”, the press service of the President of Serbia announced.

“By inheriting the 110-year-long tradition of the heroes of Kolubara, as members of the most numerous and oldest branch of the Serbian army, you confirm the traditional values of our national history and army,” Vučić emphasized.

Vučić stated that love for the homeland, patriotism, honor, honesty, determination and responsibility are the traits that distinguish the character of members of the infantry branch and the land army branch, because they had someone to look up to and someone to follow.

“I congratulate you on your holiday and anniversary, convinced that you will continue to do your best to professionally carry out the assigned tasks and raise the level of training of your units, in which you will have the full support of Serbia,” Vučić stated in his congratulatory message.
