SIPAThe State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) is aware of the operation led by Austrian police, carried out against the people suspected of recruiting persons and sending them to the front lines in Syria, SIPA confirmed to FENA.

SIPA spokesperson Kristina Jozić said that the agency is in regular contact with the Austrian police.

She added that SIPA expects official information on the results of the aforementioned operation.

As the media reports, citing police sources, Austria today began a large police operation against people suspected of recruiting fighters for “jihad” in Syria.

It was noted that the raid was launched in homes, mosques and other places of prayer in Vienna, but also in Graz and Linz, and that the main suspects in the operation are of BiH origin.

According to the Austrian Ministry of the Interior, around 150 “jihadists” have tried to leave Austria to fight in Syria and Iraq.

Half of them originate from Chechnya. About 60 of them have returned to Austria and some thirty were killed in the fighting.
