Basketball club Bosna will not play in the ABA League next season, this was confirmed by the ‘Studenti’ on their official page.
The club’s management stated that at the moment, there are no basic conditions for Bosna’s participation in the ABA 1 league next season for the following reasons:
“First of all, we received official rejections from two arenas in Sarajevo to which we sent requests, and for which we believed there were technical and capacity conditions that follow the interest of the public for holding games. The managements that run the arenas were professional and reasonable in communication, but technical preconditions were set for fulfilling obligations that our club cannot influence.
The second reason is the complete uncertainty regarding the final budget of the club for participation in the strongest ever competition of the ABA 1 league, and the uncertainty of how stable the budget can be in the upcoming season, as well as in the seasons to come. Our goal is to become a stable participant in the competition with the highest sports ambitions. Offers for support, cooperation, and sponsorship were sent to over one hundred and thirty addresses immediately after qualifying for the highest level of regional competition, and at this moment there is no clear picture that there is sufficient public and private interest so that such ambitions could be achievable.
We believe that at a time when the ABA league is making decisions regarding the number of participants and the competition system, it is professional and responsible to withdraw at this moment. Our cooperation so far with the ABA league organization has been at the highest possible level of understanding and we believe that we will be part of this regional competition at a time when we secure the conditions and the necessary sports competitiveness that is expected from a club like KK Bosna,” they stated from the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
Next season, Bosna will compete only in the senior competition exclusively in the BiH championship and Cup.
“By winning first place in the regular part of the championship we also secured placement in the ABA 2 league, but the competition concept of that league is placement in a higher level of competition. We do not see the point in fighting again for placement to a level of competition for which we are not sure that the conditions will be secured next season either. This is not the end of KK Bosna. We continue to work professionally and very competitively at the level of competition for which we have the conditions. In the senior competition we will set the goal of winning the domestic championship, the only trophy we have not achieved in the past two years since the club has been operating with the new management. We will give special focus to working with the youth selections that have shown exceptional progress in the same period, and it is our task to, through various forms of cooperation, enable our young players to participate in strong competitions that will allow them to develop alongside their appearances in our first and development team,” they state from Bosna.
They further emphasize that they will continue to work, and with enough time ahead of them, they will seek various forms of partnership so that the club will once again be competitive not only in domestic, but also in international competitions, where KK Bosna belongs without any doubt historically, in sports, and above all because of the huge number of fans to whom they remain indebted.
“This management has shown that it knows how to make brave, but also correct decisions – that we have the capacity for sports successes. Therefore, we ask our fans for patience,” they concluded from Bosna.
