Representation of BiH in sitting volleyball played the final match at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro yesterday against the selection of Iran.
In the fifth consecutive final Paralympic tournament between the two best teams in the world, the Iranians were better and won the sixth Paralympic gold.
Our players gave their maximum this time again, especially in the second set, but in the end they had to say goodbye to the title that deservedly goes in Tehran.
In the previous five Paralympic performances, volleyball players of BiH won two gold medals, in Athens in 2004 and London in 2012, while they won silver in Sydney 2000 and Beijing in 2008 and today in Rio de Janeiro.
At the Paralympic tournament in Rio, volleyball players of BiH achieved three wins and two defeats in five matches. In the group stage of the competition, they won against the Ukraine and China with maximum result, and Egypt in the semifinals, while they were defeated twice by the Iranians.
The national team of Egypt won the bronze medal after beating Brazil with the score 3: 2.
Besides Paralympic medals, the most successful sports team of our country is nine-time European and three-time world champion.
