The State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), in response to inquiries about the number of Bosnian and Herzegovinian (BiH) citizens in Syria, the information they possess, and the progress of the repatriation process, provided a precise answer.
“SIPA, upon receiving the initial information regarding BIh citizens present in foreign conflict zones such as Syria, Iraq, and others, has been continuously conducting activities to gather data and information related to this security issue. Regarding the repatriation process of BiH citizens, the SIPA carries out measures and actions within its jurisdiction, and informs the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in a timely manner, which is exclusively authorized to provide specific information,” SIPA stated.
Furthermore, in their response, they noted that according to unconfirmed information, 81 adult BiH citizens are currently located in Syria and Iraq.
“Of those, 41 are male, 40 are female, and there are nearly 80 minors, i.e., children,” SIPA stated.
