Police officers from the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) today arrested one person in the Mostar area, based on an arrest warrant.

The person was serving a prison sentence in the Busovaca Correctional Institution and was released on leave a few months ago, after which she did not return to serve her sentence.

According to SIPA, the person is using a false identity, possesses an unknown amount of narcotics and weapons.

This person was located in the Mostar area today and when being arrested by SIPA police officers, she actively resisted, threatening to detonate a hand grenade, the agency confirmed.

When the person in question was taken under control, a SIPA police officer used a firearm, resulting in the person suffering a gunshot wound to the foot and the hand grenade being taken from her.

An on-site investigation is underway, conducted by police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, and is being conducted under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the HNK.

SIPA confirmed that the person in question, accompanied by SIPA police officers, was taken to the competent health facility in Mostar.
