Police officers from the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) launched an operational action codenamed “BIG” in the Sarajevo area this morning, involving searches at six locations.

According to a statement from SIPA, the operation is being carried out under an order from the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with investigative activities focused on uncovering and documenting criminal offenses related to the illicit trade and trafficking of narcotic drugs.

The searches are being conducted based on grounds for suspicion that the criminal offenses of “Illicit Trade” and “Unauthorized Production and Placing on the Market of Narcotic Drugs” – as defined by the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina – have been committed.

Operational action “BIG” is being conducted under the supervision of the assigned prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with SIPA personnel collaborating with police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo.

SIPA has not yet provided further details regarding the specific locations being searched, nor has it been disclosed whether any arrests have been made during the operation.

Further information regarding the results of the operation is expected once the police activities have concluded.
