SIPA seized more than 100 Kilograms of Valuable Jewellery worth 3.5 Million BAM

The State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH (UIO), the police forces from the respective Ministries of Interior of Republika Srpska, Federation of BiH and Brčko District of BiH and the respective Entity and Brčko District Tax Administrations are taking part in this joint operation.

On orders of a prosecutor from the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption and on orders of the Court of BiH, police agencies are carrying out searches in 60 locations throughout BiH.

Operations are being carried out with the aim of cutting and preventing the smuggling of goods and products made of precious metals and their placement on the illegal market.

Several hundreds of police officers and tax administration inspectors are involved in the operation and the activities are coordinated by the case prosecutor.

During the operation, 60 kilograms of gold, 45 kilograms of silver, 2.000 of different pieces of jewelry worth more than 3.5 million BAM, 60,000 BAM and 40,000 Euros, six guns, and more seals for jewelry marking.

After the searches and deprivations of liberty, the suspects will be handed over to the case prosecutor who will make a decision on further activities in the case.
