A total of 18 local self-governing units in BiH have a certificate of the favorable business environment according to the Business Friendly Certification South East Europe (BFC SEE), and 28 others are in the process of certification. Thus, BiH is a real leader in this field in the region, as noted at the official promotion of six new municipalities/cities that received this certificate.
The six municipalities/cities that completed that process this year are Doboj, Gradacac, Jablanica, Novi Grad Sarajevo, Posusje, and Zenica.
The Mayor of Jablanica Salem Dedic says that together with the international certificate of ISO 9001: 2015, the certification of BFC standards also proves their commitment to be recognizable for both domestic and foreign investors in the future period.
The city of Prijedor started this process back in 2013, and it received the first BFC certificate as the city with the best business environment in Southeast Europe in the year of 2014. Prijedor already completed about 95 % of the certification requirements.
Around 15 business subjects were constructed and initiated in Prijedor, in which was employed about 2,000 workers.
To recall, they are all certified under the RAST project, which is funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
“CRS is working through the RAST project on the support of development of environments that will promote and stimulate new employment opportunities,” said D’Silva, who thanked to the donor of the project, the USAID, which provided 2 million USD for the realization of this project, as well as municipalities and cities on their contribution to the project.
