At this year’s XVI Theatre Fest ‘Petar Kočić’ which will be held from 2 to 9 June in National Theatre of RS in Banja Luka, six plays from the region will be shown.
Plays that were selected are: “Dabogda te majka rodila” by Croatian National Theatre ‘Ivan plemeniti Zajc’ and Croatian House of Culture Theatre Rijeka ‘Grebanje ili kako se ubila moja’ by Bosnian National Theatre Zenica, ‘Sava Savanović- vampirska simfonija’ of National Theatre Kikinda, ‘Zla žena’ by National Theatre ‘Toša Jovanović’ Zrenjanin, ‘Zdrav(o) život(e) by Serb National Theatre Novi Sad, TE ‘Elijahova stolica’ by Yugoslav Drama Theatre Belgrade and MES Sarajevo.
Theatre fest will be opened with the play ‘S planine i ispod planine’, directed by Stela Korljan, and it will be closed by the play of National Theatre of RS ‘Kuhinja’ by Mladen Materić, announced at the press conference manager of National Theatre Željko Stjepanović.
Selector of this festival Miroslav Miki Radonjić has noted that after 37 watched plays from Croatia, BiH, Serbia and Montenegro, which applied, most theatres from the region showed immense level of creative vitality.
Having in mind that the program of the festival is already determined, the jury tried to watch as many plays as possible, with themes ranging from classical drama, dramatisation and adaptation, and documentaries.
The accent was put on authors and works from the region, but he considers that the play was done on the basis of foreign text, also equally represent the unique theatrical expression that is cherished in these areas.
