Last night in Sarajevo City Hall was held the ceremonial session of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo on the occasion of the 6th of April, the Day of the City of Sarajevo, where were officially presented the Sixth of April Awards to Dino Merlin in the field of culture and art, the Association Fama in the field of science and education and the Association Haber for the protection of historical values of BiH.
The formal session was also attended by the main donor for the construction of Trebevic cable car Edmond Offermann, who was declared as the honorary citizen of Sarajevo.
The rich history of Sarajevo was presented at last night’s ceremony, and it is interesting that this year was marked a total of 555 years since the first mention of the name of Sarajevo.
This is the day that marks 72 years since the liberation of Sarajevo after the World War II, but it is also the day of remembrance of the sad side of the city, 25 years since the beginning of the siege of Sarajevo.
Although the Sixth of April Award is usually awarded in five categories, this year were selected winners in only three categories.
Dino Merlin is the winner of the individual Sixth of April Award in the field of culture and art for the year of 2017, and he noted that it is one of the most important awards that he ever received in his career.
Committee for the Sixth April Award considered a total of 17 applications, of which 10 were individual and 7 of them were collective.
