Sociologist on the recent Murder in Sarajevo: It is dangerous that we have become tolerant of Crime

The murder of a 19-year-old young man at a Sarajevo intersection shocked the entire region. The tragic event was allegedly preceded by a traffic dispute that resulted in one fatality, two injuries, and trauma for families and citizens who have lived for years in fear of various forms of violence that endanger their lives.

This murder is not the cause, but a consequence of the collective state of the society in which we survive and the deposition of pathological conditions, says sociologist Vladimir Vasic, who has been warning for years about an irreversibly sick community that has neglected the education of young people for years.

“They solve problems with firearms, violence, shooting because that’s what they saw. They saw it from us adults, from us who showed them these media contents, from us adults who did not condemn this content, from us who watched the video circulating on the Internet after the murder, we became, and this is very dangerous, tolerant of crime,” claims sociologist Vladimir Vasic.

Due to the well-founded suspicion of a crime committed, a person with the initials A.S. born in Sarajevo in 2000 was arrested and handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office of Canton Sarajevo (CS). He is charged with the crime of “Murder” for which a sentence of more than 10 years is foreseen.

“From Article 166, paragraph 2, item B. This item B specifies “whoever kills another during reckless violent behavior”. Also, yesterday in the afternoon, two more men, 37 and 24 years old, were deprived of their freedom on suspicion of helping a perpetrator after committing a criminal act,” Mersiha Novalic, CS Ministry of Internal Affairs spokeswoman, stated yesterday.

The citizens are in fear, but unfortunately, they are not surprised because they are used to their safety being threatened, N1 writes.
