SORENSEN: SVAKO DIJETE IMA PRAVO NA OBRAZOVANJE I NAJBOLJU MOGUÆU NJEGUHead of the EU Delegation to B&H and EU Special Representative Ambassador Peter Sorensen visited today the Public Institution “Mjedenica” in Sarajevo and was informed about the details of the work of the Association EDUS- Education for all.

At the press conference, Sorensen pointed out the quality of their work and the staff level of expertise, who work with children with development difficulties, and specified that the EU, together with partners from UNICEF, UNDP and USAID have certain funds allocated to help the program EDUS.

”We believe that this is a good way in B&H, in a society such as this one, to help those who are the weakest. The point is that every child has the right to education and the best possible care that can be provided to them”, said Sorensen and stressed the importance of early intervention for children with development difficulties.

EDUS’s advanced educational program for children with development difficulties, which lasts for already four years, has so far been mainly financed by EU, from the IPA funds, through the projects implemented by UNDP and UNICEF.

The Director of EDUS Nirvana Pištoljević said that thanks to the above mentioned support, 68 children are being educated everyday at the Institute “Mjedenica”, which is a partner in this project.

Today’s visit is organized on the occasion of the World Day of Autism (2 April), and Ambassador Sorensen was accompanied by the Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in B&H Zahira Virani and the Deputy Representative of UNICEF in B&H Anne Claire Dufay.
