sorensen6The official Opening of the European Union Info Centre (EUIC) in Bosnia and Herzegovina took place on June 2 at the European Union Delegation building in Sarajevo in the presence of representatives of local authorities and international community.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Peter Sorensen , Head of the EU Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative emphasised that BiH is on the path of European integration and that it is vital that citizens have the best access possible to information about the integration process and what the European Union is.

“All the feedback tells us that people want to know more – and they want to know more details. We very much hope this EU Info Centre will meet that need both through its daily service, and its events around the country,”  stressed Ambassador Sorensen adding that BiH citizens, journalists and students  all now have a Centre to turn to when they have questions or need information about the EU.

The EUIC will provide general information about the EU, its institutions and its policies, provide information about  EU programmes and disseminate EU information on local and regional levels.

It is located in the premises of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, Skenderija 3a, Sarajevo  and is open to the public from 09:00 am to 5:30 pm from Monday to Thursday and 09:00 am to 4:30 pm on Friday.

The EUIC also offers publications of the EU institutions and European integration in English and local language while  the EUIC staff will be there to give an initial response to any information requested. It is also open for organized group visits, such as seminars, workshops and other events about the EU integration, as well as cultural events and art exhibitions in the EU context.

The EUIC is a project funded by the European Union through Instrument for Pre–Accession Assistance (IPA).
