bascarsijske noci, oslobodjenjeLast night, the opening of the festival “Baščaršija Nights” was marked with the performance of Beethoven’s ninth symphony as part of a concert series “Road to World Peace Concert”.

The minister of culture and sports of Sarajevo Canton Ivica Šarić said in the introductory speech that the Japanese conductor Toshio Yanagisawa gathered musicians from all over the world and formed the Balkan Chamber Orchestra.

The first from the series of concerts “Road to World Peace Concert” was held in Tokyo in 2013, and last night it was held in Sarajevo marking the start of the traditional festival “Baščaršija Nights” added Šarić.

The ambassador of Japan in B&H Hideo Yamazaki noted that with tonight’s concert friendship between Japan and B&H is celebrated and messages of peace, hope and coexistence with all people are sent.

“This concert is especially important because it is held in the period of marking the centenary of WWI”, said the ambassador Yamazaki to which he added that he hopes that this concert will enrich the cultural exchange and understanding between Japan, B&H and all the Balkan.
