A delegation of the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which included Brigadier General Edin Fako and Colonel Elvir Spahic, participated in a meeting in Brussels with representatives of NATO HQ regarding defining the cooperation program on the issue of integrity building in 2026.

Representatives of the Ministry of Defence BiH held working meetings during their stay in Brussels with the Director of the Directorate for Defence and Security Cooperation (NATO HQ, OPS), Cazalet Piers, and the head of the integrity building program team, Frendin Joakim.

The meeting was also attended by Branka Petek from NATO HQ within the DEEP program, which additionally confirmed the importance of international cooperation and support in the implementation of planned activities.

During the discussions, the delegation of the Ministry of Defence BiH presented the strategic goals of the Integrity Plan, which include strengthening ethical and professional conduct, improving transparency and legality of work, efficient management of human and material resources, finances and public procurement, as well as ensuring the integrity of the members of the Armed Forces BiH (AFBiH) in international missions – all with the aim of building a modern, responsible and reliable defence system in accordance with contemporary standards and best practices.

The considered cooperation activities in the field of integrity building for 2026 aim at NATO support to the work of the General Inspectorate in implementing these strategic goals.

These activities significantly contribute to the realization of the partnership goal – integrity building G 0204 defined between BiH and NATO within the ITP Programme (Individual Tailored Partnership Programme) – the Ministry of Defence of BiH stated.

Brigadier General Edin Fako emphasized that the DEEP program represents a strong framework for the further development of modern, efficient, and transparent defence systems based on contemporary standards and best practices. He also stressed that the consistent implementation of the defined goals will contribute to strengthening trust, professionalism, and responsibility within the Ministry of Defence and the AFBiH.

In the end, both sides confirmed their commitment to additionally strengthening coordination, exchange of knowledge and experience through continuous activities and cooperation, and contributing to achieving more efficient and transparent processes in accordance with international obligations and standards.

In addition to the mentioned activities, Brigadier General Edin Fako also attended the ceremonial reception on the occasion of the Day of the AFBiH, which was organized by the Permanent Mission of BiHa to NATO in Brussels, the statement said.
