As part of European Union’s Generation Change programme in BiH, team of 6 students has been awarded with a study trip to Brussels, during which they will get a chance to learn about the functioning of the EU, as well as meet with number of the EU representatives.

Around 600 young people took part in this year’s Generation Change programme, out of which 23 students, from all eight public universities took part in digital competition which was featured on EU in BiH’s social media platforms. Divided into four teams, the participants collaborated to create compelling video scripts, working alongside a professional production team to bring their ideas to life.

The videos produced by the teams explored various aspects of Bosnia and Herzegovina, offering fresh perspectives on the country’s potential within the European Union. The themes ranged from cultural heritage and traditions to environmental conservation, tourism, and the vast potential of its people.

Team Nanulice, comprised of students from School of Economics and Business, University of Sarajevo and Faculty of Business Economics from Bijeljina, University of East Sarajevo, won the hearts and minds of the social media audiences and the jury with their video “Connected through Good – Connected Through Steps”. Video portrays Bosnia and Herzegovina’s unique culture and heritage that connect people through generations. The video gained impressive metrics with 2.1 million views, reaching approximately 800,000 people, with roughly 30,000 interactions on social media.

The EU’s Generation Change project aims to empower young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina by highlighting their potential to contribute to a more democratic society. Generation Change selection process involved a series of engaging discussions held in several cities, including Tuzla, Sarajevo, Mostar, and Banja Luka, with students coming also from Bihać, Bijeljina, and Zenica. These discussions featured the Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Johann Sattler, EU member state ambassadors, various experts, and youth activists. They provided a platform for the students to exchange ideas and showcase their innovative solutions.

This year’s Generation Change story is a testament to the talent, innovation, and cooperation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s youth. The EU looks forward to welcoming the winning team to Brussels, where they will have the opportunity to gain further insights into the workings of the European Union and explore future opportunities for engagement.
