12968735_1146588595392095_801288130_nThe production and mounting of hydro power plants, parts for ship cranes and oil platforms, operations in South Korea, Indonesia, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Columbia, France, Italy and other countries of the world. All of these are parameters according to which people imagine a successful company from the USA, Germany, France or Japan. However, when it is said that all these operations are executed by a company from Bihać and that the company’s name is “Č.J.”, that would certainly be the right story. And this one truly is a right story.

The company Č.J. Ltd. Bihać is a family company founded in 1984 by Jusuf Čavkić, whose initials remained in the name of the company until this day. In the beginning, the primary activity of the company was wood processing and the cutting of round logs, which was performed in a small sawmill. The company kept manufacturing products of wood until 2004, when Jusuf’s sons Denis and Fadil, due to inability of procuring quality round logs and disloyal competition in the form of unregistered sawmills, redirect the company in a whole another direction.

In less than 10 years, the company purchased its own facility in Bihać from the JSC Žitoprerada Bihać. The facility, which had been totally destructed, has been reconstructed and all manufacturing was moved there.

“Almost 100 percent of production is export. We work for many renowned companies such as Hubert Palfinger Ltd. Maribor, one of the most famous companies in the world dealing with the production of all kinds of cranes. We make constructions and parts for those cranes, such as stands and load-bearing elements. They have several departments, for example ship cranes, special machines for maintenance of oil platforms and ships, and we make certain constructions in accordance with their drafts,” said Dino Čavkić, the Executive Director of the company.

There is also the company Fröling Heizkessel Gmbh. The company Č.J. Ltd. has been producing central heating boilers for them since 2008. They also cooperate with the companies Gugler Water Turbines Gmbh, MAG Maschinen&Apparatebau AG Gmbh, Niedermair&Frey Gmbh, and Loibl Alen-Sherman Hoff Gmbh. For example, for Loibl they manufacture parts for transportation systems used in thermal power plants and mines.

In addition, the company Č.J. has a group of engineering-assembly specialist oriented towards independent leading of projects and execution of works on the field for the purposes of production, pre-assembly, assembly, maintenance, reconstruction and putting into operation of water turbines and other hydro-mechanical equipment. Perennial operating in this branch with business partners from Austria Gugler Water Turbines from Linz resulted in implementation of over 60 projects of small hydro power plants, and following are just some of the countries where the turbines have been assembled so far: South Korea, Indonesia, BiH, Macedonia, Romania, France, Austria, Italy, Turkey, Albania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Ruanda, Sri Lanka, Armenia and Panama.

Apart from this, Čavkić highlighted that Č.J. Ltd. also produced several of their own smaller turbines or parts for turbines. However, Čavkić said that they usually assemble the equipment of other companies because the production of larger turbines demands additional investment in large processing centers, which are necessary for such operations.

One month ago, the company purchased another facility located near the existing one, and they also hired seven new workers, thus maintaining constant tendency of growth of the number of employees.

“The reason is simple: we have many inquiries and orders for production, especially in the upcoming summer period. We are looking for a quality workforce, which is very difficult to be found in our field. There are many unemployed people registered in employment services, but there is almost no quality workforce,” Čavkić said.

Čavkić pointed out that an important segment of the company’s policy is also insisting on permanent education of all employees with the aim of enabling them to perform individual, creative and innovative work as much as possible, thus satisfying the demands of business partners and business in general.
