Supervisor Warns what Threats to BiH Constitution and Institutions Could Prompt

Brčko Supervisor Louis Crishock has communicated with Clint Williamson, the Presiding Arbiter of the Brčko Tribunal, and he has noted that the Tribunal is closely monitoring recent developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Supervisor and Presiding Arbiter jointly underscored the fact that under both the Final Award of the Arbitral Tribunal and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brčko District exists under the sovereignty of BiH and is subject to BiH institutions.

Threats signaled by Republika Srpska Leadership against State institutions and the constitutional order of BiH would consequently have serious implications for Brčko District.

Supervisor Crishock called on all actors to respect the independence of the judiciary and to avoid all actions that would undermine the Constitutional Order of BiH or state institutions, underscoring that the Brčko Tribunal might need to assess compliance of such actions with the terms of the Final Award.
