Suspects arrested for Earning 2.7 Million Euros from Drug Sales

The eight arrested in the “Breakthrough Two” operation are suspected of trafficking cocaine, marijuana, amphetamines, ecstasy and heroin and acquiring illegal property worth 2,710,790 euros, said Branislav Šehovac, the head of the East Sarajevo Police Department.

Šehovac stated that they illegally distributed around 52 kilograms of cocaine, around 170 kilograms of marijuana, 47,800 ecstasy tablets, around 10 kilograms of speed and around 19 liters of amphetamine oil.

A report on the committed crime was filed against J. B, D. D, G. M, S. B, Ć. M, J. B, B. E. and G. Ž., and Šehovac added that two are on the run and that arrest warrants will be issued for them.

Šehovac pointed out that they had repeatedly illegally acquired, sold and used firearms, which citizens are not allowed to possess.

He also stated that during yesterday’s searches at several locations in Istočno Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Laktaši and the Sarajevo Canton, drugs, an improvised laboratory, cannabis plantations, firearms, ammunition, vehicles and mobile phones of the suspects were found.

“We also confiscated certain cars they used, as well as phones,” said Šehovac, adding that the suspects are also charged with the acquisition and resale of ingredients for the production of narcotic drugs.

Šehovac clarified that these individuals have committed the criminal offenses of unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs and illegal production and trafficking of weapons or explosives since March 2020.

He emphasized that cooperation with Europol was established as part of the investigation, whose role was to decrypt the applications used by the suspects.

As he said, since 2022, the “Sky” and “Anom” applications used by the suspects have been analyzed, and in 2024, the “Prolom” operation was launched, during which, through the application of special investigative measures, it was determined that these suspects were arranging the purchase, distribution and sale of narcotics.

The suspects will be handed over to the East Sarajevo District Public Prosecutor’s Office today for further proceedings.

The “Prolom Two” operation was carried out by members of the East Sarajevo Police Department in cooperation with the Organized and Serious Crime Department, the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska and Europol, with the assistance of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs.
