Swedish authorities have launched an investigation into damage to a cable in the Baltic Sea, Swedish news agency TT reported.
Authorities noticed damage to a fiber-optic cable in the Baltic Sea between the Latvian city of Ventspils and the Swedish island of Gotland late last month.
A Bulgarian company vessel was seized after the incident, but it was released after Swedish prosecutors dismissed initial suspicions of sabotage.
The damage was spotted off Gotland, south of Stockholm, in Sweden’s exclusive economic zone.
The coast guard is on the scene. No further details about the incident were available at this time.
