The Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton, Nijaz Hušić, and the Speaker of the Cantonal Assembly, Zikrija Duraković, hosted Swedish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Helena Lagerlöf, in Bihać on Wednesday. Their discussions centered on the region’s development goals and strategic projects aimed at promoting sustainable growth.

Prime Minister Hušić and Speaker Duraković outlined the Canton’s main strategic priorities, emphasizing efforts to foster a favorable business climate and leverage the area’s natural resources – particularly in the energy sector.

“The Una-Sana Canton possesses considerable natural and economic assets that we aim to harness for sustainable development. In collaboration with international partners – especially nations like Sweden that champion the green transition and support Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European integration – we are committed to creating a strong business environment and executing strategic energy projects,” said representatives of the Cantonal Government.

Ambassador Lagerlöf described the meeting as highly productive and reaffirmed Sweden’s commitment to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina on its EU accession journey.

“Sweden remains a steadfast partner to Bosnia and Herzegovina in its European ambitions. Today’s dialogue with cantonal leaders provided valuable insight into Una-Sana Canton’s development priorities and reaffirmed our willingness to continue offering support, particularly in sustainable development, energy efficiency, and institutional capacity building,” stated representatives of the Swedish Embassy in BiH.
