Deputy Chairman of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) Dragan Covic received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to BiH, Helena Lagerlof, on an inaugural visit, and they discussed the current political situation in BiH, with an emphasis on the European path, the reform process, and the need to preserve peace, stability, territorial integrity, and the constitutional order of BiH.

They also discussed overall bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on the importance of further encouraging Swedish investments and the development of economic ties between the two countries, as well as areas of future cooperation that contribute to the development and European perspective of BiH.

The Deputy Chairman of the House of Peoples emphasized the important role of Sweden in strengthening institutions that contribute to the stability and European perspective of BiH. On the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, he stressed the importance of preserving peace and the constitutional order, and the need to amend electoral legislation in order to constitutionally define the protection of the rights of all three constituent peoples in full.

He especially emphasized that the European path of BiH is a key strategic goal and thanked Sweden for its support to the reform processes and the country’s European integration.

Ambassador Lagerlof informed Covic about Sweden’s activities in BiH, emphasizing that the relations between the two countries are strong and developed. She pointed out that Sweden’s priorities are supporting BiH on its path toward European integration, strengthening democracy and human rights, economic growth and development, and environmental and climate protection.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the bilateral relations, highlighting their mutual commitment to common goals and priorities in future activities, with a special emphasis on projects and initiatives that contribute to the development and European future of BiH, it was stated in the announcement from Covic’s office.
