Switzerland is the biggest Investor in BiH

The Government of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the information of the Federal Ministry of Trade on direct foreign investments in the Federation of BiH for 2021.

The information stated that, according to the data of the Central Bank of BiH, the state of direct foreign investments (FDI) in the period from 2012 to 2021 in the Federation of BiH amounted to 10,221.9 million BAM.

In 2021, direct foreign investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to 971.2 million BAM, of which 825.6 million BAM refers to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Also, last year there was a significantly higher inflow of investments in FBiH compared to 2020, which, according to revised data, amounted to 447.2 million BAM.

The leading five investor countries by the amount of investment in 2021 in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose total investment amount is 595 million BAM, were Switzerland (223.1 million BAM), Turkey (146.6 million BAM), Germany (91.3 million BAM), Austria (70.8 million BAM) and Croatia (63.3 million BAM).

At the same time, the total reduction of foreign capital resulting from its sale, assignment of all or part of the capital and deletion from the register amounted to 83.4 million BAM.

When it comes to direct foreign investments by activity, the largest investments of 166.5 million BAM were related to retail trade (except trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) and 107.5 million BAM to the production of finished metal products (except machines and equipment).
