Take a Look on the Changes in Traffic on the Occasion of the Pope’s Visit

sarajevoOn the occasion of the visit of Pope Francis to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sarajevo on June 6th, modifications to the traffic regime and temporary suspension of traffic in the Sarajevo area will be introduced.

The streets with temporal alteration of traffic regime will be Kurta Schorka, Stup traffic loop, Džemala Bijedića, Boulevard of Meša Selimović, Zmaja od Bosne, Hiseta, Reisa Džemaludina Čauševića, Mis Irbina, Musala Maršala Tita.

Alipašina, bypass road next to the Olympic Stadium “Asim Ferhatović Hase” (from the Patriotske Lige street to the street Alipašina), Betanija.

Obala Kulina Bana, Wilson’s promenade, Kotromanića, Kulovića, Dalmatinska, Mehmed Paše Sokolovića, Pehlivanuša, Muse Ćazima Ćatića, Josipa Štadlera, Mula Mustafe Bašeskije, Telali, Čemaluša, Ferhadija – pedestrian zone within the protected zone of the movement of the Holy Father Pope Francis, Vrbanja, Franje Račkog, Stjepana Tomića, Terezija, Zagrebačka, Hamdije Čemerlića, Prijedorska, Srđana Aleksića from the intersection with the street Boulevard of Meša Selimović in the direction towards the Istiqlal mosque in length of 300 meters, Brčanska, Žrtava fašizma, Gatačka and other streets in the area of Sarajevo Canton for which the officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton estimate that require the changes of traffic regime for security reasons, on the occasion of the visit by the Holy Father Pope Francis to B&H and Sarajevo, in the time period from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 6th this year.

The temporary alteration of traffic regime consists of the ban of traffic for all vehicles, other than those included in Article 125 and 126 of the Law on Basics of the Road Traffic Safety in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Time of the complete suspension of traffic in these streets in the indicated period will be determined by the operating authorities of the MIA depending on the plan and program developments, as well as the situation on the field.

The regulation of the traffic flow in the area of complete traffic suspension and at the intersections where the traffiic is diverted to the alternative routes will be carried out by the members of the MIA of the Sarajevo Canton, and after a predetermined time period, i.e. after creating safe conditions for the traffic of motor vehicles, the members of the MIA will establish a regular traffic regime.

The traffic of all freight vehicles whose maximum mass exceeds 3.500 kg in the Sarajevo Canton  on June 6th in the time period from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. is prohibited.

In addition, stopping and parking of all vehicles along the route of the streets from the point 1 of the disposition in the width of 30 meters of the protected zone from the extreme edge of the pavement on both sides is prohibited.
