The tourist season in Neum is in its final stage, and from the Tourist Board of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC) stated they are satisfied and that the season met the expectations, considering that they are working a lot to improve the tourist offer and services in our only coastal town.
The beginning of the month of June was poor in visitors, and the explanation for this probably lies in the fact that the European Football Championship was held at that time, the month of Ramadan was celebrated, while the weather was not good either.
Number of overnight stays realized in Neum during the summer cannot be accurately determined since the majority of overnight stays are not reported, but the Tourist Board of HNC is working a lot to improve the tourist offer in order to attract and retain visitors and tourists longer.
“The projects on which the Tourist Board is working are focused on new target groups of visitors, as well as their longer stay and increase of the total tourism turnover in the Canton,” as said from the Tourist Board of the HNC.
One of these projects was the privatization and renovation of the hotel “Neum”, which certainly gave a new dimension to the city and extended the season.
“Increasing the number or the quality of accommodation will definitely lead to more visitors in the upcoming season”, said from the Tourist Board.
Plans for next season are already in the progress, and there is no rest for the tourism workers of HNC even in winter. They are planning to participate in tourism fairs in Europe where they will present their tourist offer.
Tourist Board of the HNC will present its tourist offer in Rimini, Milan, Vienna, Budapest, and thus ensure its status as a tourist destination on the map of Europe.
Next season will be rich in new contents. Until then, the project of rural tourism as a new product of the Tourist Board should be ready, as well as applications for smart phones, which should ensure easier movement to all visitors, both local and foreign.
The continuation of the construction of main road Stolac-Neum is planned as well, which would mean a lot to local hikers, who can currently choose between crossing the Croatian border in order to go to the domestic sea or to travel through unconditional Svitava.
From the Ministry of Transport and Communications of FBiH are hoping to realize the public invitation for the contractor during this month.
