By the end of September, test phase of national project of digitalization in Bosnia and Herzegovina will begin. During the test period, programs of BHRT, FTV and RTRS will be broadcasted in digital form at the territory of Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar, confirmed the Minister of Communications and Transportation of BiH Ismir Jusko.
Jusko said that the digitalization process in BiH, which has already started, is a national project of great importance for every citizen of this country. He added that technical documentation has been already made and that financial means for implementation have been ensured.
First phase is the most important and includes procurement, installation, testing and release into function of the equipment needed for digital signal coverage at the territory of Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar, as well as the equipping of five informative-technical centers.
“At this moment, in the first phase of the digitalization project we are ready to release MUX for which we have obtained all necessary permits from the Regulatory Agency for Communications of BiH and that will happen in September 2016. Test phase of MUX includes the functioning of the installed equipment in the period of 90 days,” Jusko said.
During the test period, programs of public broadcasters BHRT, FTV and RTRS will be broadcasted in digital form at the territory where the equipment has been installed, in order for the equipment to be tested and final handover to he executed, after which MUX-A would officially be put into function.
“If the test phase turns out to be successful, programs of public broadcasters would officially be broadcasted in digital form at the territory of Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar,” Jusko said.
Jusko added that the Ministry of Communications and Transportation of BiH is working on preparing technical documentation and other legal-administrative documents in order to publish an open international tender for launching of the second phase of the digitalization process, which would include procurement, installation, testing and releasing into function the equipment for the remaining eleven informative-technical centers, as well as equipment necessary for digital connecting of BiH with neighboring countries.
