The 546th anniversary of the death of Queen Katarina Kosača-Kotromanić will be marked at the fortress of Duke Stjepan Kosača (Stjepan grad) in Blagaj by laying a wreath and lighting candles.

“The idea was to protect the importance and role of Queen Katarina in Bosnia and Herzegovina and for the Croats in BiH, but also to protect the fortress itself, which is partly forgotten. Our goal is for this to become a tradition and to be celebrated in the same place in the years to come. Also, after laying a wreath and lighting candles, a Mass will be held in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Blagaj.”

Speaking about the history of Queen Katarina, Marinko Jurić from the Cultural and Artistic Society (KUD) Sveti Ante Cim said that she was born in 1424 in Blagaj.

Some historical data say that she was born a year later, and as far as her status is concerned, she was the last Bosnian queen and that is how we remember her in a way.

He pointed out that it was important to mention that she had left her Bosnia to Pope Sixtus under the invasion of the Turks.
