Organized by the Association of Anti-Fascists and Veterans of the National Liberation War of the Municipality of Vogosca, yesterday, January 24, the 84th anniversary of the departure of the legendary Igman March was marked, along with the remembrance of the formation of the 1st Crnovrska Partisan Company.

The ceremony marking the 84th anniversary of the Igman March began at the memorial site in Spasoja Blagovcanina Street, where flowers were laid, and tribute was paid to all participants of the march.

Tribute to the participants of the legendary Igman March was also paid at Grabljiva Njiva, the site of the formation of the Crnovrska Partisan Company, from where the proletarians set off 84 years ago on a march that was later marked as one of the most glorious and well-known episodes of the National Liberation War in World War II.

In addition to a large number of citizens of Vogosca, association members, and mountaineers, the opening of the event was attended by a delegation of the Municipality of Vogosca led by Mayor Migdad Hasanovic, as well as the Chairman of the Vogosca Municipal Council, Nihad Hadzic.

The commemoration in Vogosca passed with dignity, with a message that the historical lessons of the Igman March must be preserved as the foundation of the anti-fascist heritage and commitment to a peaceful and stable future of our homeland.

It should be recalled that a column of 500 fighters took part in the Igman March, after the First Proletarian Brigade found itself encircled by strong German forces on Romanija. At that time, a decision was made to pass near Sarajevo, across Igman, toward liberated Foca under extremely harsh winter conditions.
