Last year, the demining teams of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina cleared 903,326 m2 of our country’s risky areas.

14,732,303 m2 was returned to the end user, i.e. civilian structures and local communities. The demining capacities of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in addition to facing various challenges, implemented the mine action plan by 61.28%, which is a respectable result.

This is a success that should be respected, especially since the cleared and demined area was returned to local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and put into use, all with the aim of further developing our local communities. In 2024, the demining capacities of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina operated in 18 municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, of which 13 municipalities are in the FBiH and five municipalities are in the Republika Srpska, the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

It is necessary to emphasize that the demining process in 2024, in addition to the state structures of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is also supported by the German, American, Austrian and other embassies in BiH.

“In addition, a significant contribution to equipping and increasing demining capacities was made by the European Commission in BiH, which, through EU funds, purchased vehicles for transporting deminers, ambulances, demining machines, GPS devices and drones, which facilitated the complex demining process and gave new momentum to the use of modern demining methods and procedures.”

Expectations for the demining process for 2025 are high, announced the Armed Forces of BiH.

“With all the capacities and equipment for the implementation of the mine action plan for 2025, the Armed Forces of BiH plan to demine 1,616,683 m2 with 34 manual teams, four teams with explosive detection dogs and four teams for mechanical land preparation.

The planned operation of the demining capacities of the Armed Forces of BiH on 35 demining projects, namely 23 projects on the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and 12 projects on the territory of the RS, and the demining process will take place on the territory of 23 municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the demining methods, it is planned to demine 1,616,683 m2 using the technical survey method, the plan for 2025 envisages that a total of 25,240,446 m2 will be returned to the end user.”
