The call for evening prayer marks the official arrival of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims.

Muezzin Mirza Ganic recited the call to evening prayer from Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Sarajevo.

With evening prayer, the holy month of Ramadan begins for Muslims. The believers attended the first Tarawih prayer last night, and today they are fasting on the first day of Ramadan. This year, Ramadan will last until April 21st, when Muslims around the world will celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

This month is also distinguished by the fact that the publication of the Qur’an, God’s last revelation, began in it, and the recitingof Ramadan mukabels is a characteristic of the Islamic tradition of Bosniaks.

We wish all Muslims to spend the upcoming Mubarak days in good health, peace of mind, and well-being, together with their families, friends, and neighbors. Ramadan Mubarak!

Raisu-l-ulama of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein effendi Kavazović, on the occasion of the upcoming month of Ramadan, sent a message to all Muslims to be merciful and generous.

Tonight, Ramadan begins with the evening prayer. It is the month of fasting and piety. We are entering a holy time, which is sensitive and in which values increase.

This year we start this holy month under the motto ‘Family in Ramadan – Ramadan in the family’. Therefore, may Ramadan come in each of our families, and each heart that carries belief in Allah.

Traditions tell us that the Prophet of God, peace be upon him, was the most generous man and that he was especially generous during Ramadan. Therefore, let us be generous.

Let no believer remain alone and abandoned. Allah is merciful, and His mercy is even greater in this month.

Let us also be merciful to His creatures and let us be seen fasting. Let’s beware of what is forbidden, and do only what is good so that everyone feels the benefit of our fasting.

“Our God, bring us and our families safely into the month of your grace, open the way to its blessings, and accept from us every good deed we do during this month. I wish Ramadan Sherif Mubarak Olsun!,” it is said in the Ramadan message of the Raisu-l-ulama Husein effendi Kavazović.
