The Canton of Sarajevo records new statistical records of Tourist Arrivals

The Canton of Sarajevo records new statistical records of tourist arrivals and overnight stays during the New Year holidays. In the period from December 29, 2023 to January 2, 2024, 13,529 tourists visited Sarajevo Canton, which is 20.1 percent more than last year, when 11,264 visits were recorded, and compared to 2019, when 6,299 were recorded, an increase of 114.7 percent.

The statistics of tourist overnight stays in the Canton of Sarajevo for the same period, five nights during the New Year’s holiday, show that this year there were 31,540 overnight stays, which is 43.5 percent more compared to last year, when 21,971 were recorded, and compared to 2019 when 14,256 overnight stays were recorded, an increase of 121.2 percent.

During the New Year’s holidays in Sarajevo Canton, the most tourists were from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the surrounding countries – Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Germany, Austria, Macedonia, and from Turkey, Switzerland and Sweden. Tourists stayed on average for two to three days.

The Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board thanks all tourists and citizens who celebrated the New Year in Sarajevo.

“We also express our special thanks to the members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, who implemented security measures well this year, so that despite large gatherings both outdoors and indoors, no violations were recorded, and we once again showed that the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina is safe tourist destination”, they point out from the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton and add:

“We are extremely pleased with the fact of the quick and good organization of the cleaning of Sarajevo’s main streets right after the end of the New Year’s celebration, since images of a clean and beautiful Sarajevo are our tourist imperative throughout the year.”
