The first charter flight from Cairo to Sarajevo was officially welcomed at Sarajevo International Airport today, establishing a direct air connection between the capitals of Egypt and Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first time.

The flight was operated by the airline Petroleum Air Services, in cooperation with the tourist agency Tishoury Tours and the incoming agency MTS from Montenegro.

“Airport staff, with the support of the domestic company Lasta, presented symbolic welcome gifts to the first passengers from Cairo. The passengers from Cairo were welcomed by Sabit Subasic, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Egypt, and representatives of Sarajevo International Airport, led by the Executive Director for Development, Slobodan Kadijevic,” Sarajevo International Airport announced.

Ambassador Subasic emphasized that strengthening tourism cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Egypt is one of the priorities, which was discussed last year by the Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, and the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

“The results of BiH’s promotion on the Egyptian market are already visible – our country is increasingly present in the media and on social networks as a desirable destination. Today’s flight is the first direct flight ever from Cairo to Sarajevo and important evidence of positive developments in our relations. In addition to tourism, it opens up new opportunities for economic, cultural and educational contacts between our countries,” said Subasic.

Egyptian Ambassador to BiH Walid Haggag welcomed the establishment of the charter flight, emphasizing its importance for the promotion of BiH and strengthening the interests of BiH citizens in Egypt.
Executive Director of Sarajevo Airport Kadijevic emphasized the importance of this event for international connectivity and tourism development:

“We are proud that Sarajevo International Airport is hosting the first flight from Cairo and grateful for the trust shown to our partners from Egypt. This flight represents an important step forward in the expansion of our airline network, while at the same time opening up new opportunities for passengers from both directions.”

Flights are planned as seasonal charters during August: August 13, 21 and 28.

According to information from the MTS agency, two weekly charter flights between Cairo and Sarajevo are planned for 2026, from May to October, Klix.ba writes.
