The Chief of Police in Prijedor banned a peaceful Walk on the Occasion of the White Ribbon Day

The head of the Prijedor Police Department has banned a peaceful walk on the occasion of the White Ribbon Day, the association “Because it concerns me” (”Jer me se tice”) announced.

“For nine years, we have been celebrating White Ribbon Day with a peaceful walk along the main street in the pedestrian zone without any incidents, both by participants and citizens of Prijedor. This year as well, we announced the meeting in a proper way and complied with everything that the Law on Public Gathering of Republika Srpska (RS) envisages. This morning we were surprised by the decision sent to us by the Chief of the Prijedor Police Administration Sretoja Vujanovic, that we are forbidden to walk peacefully and allow only gatherings on Major Zoran Karlica Square for a limited time from noon to 1 p.m., “ they said yesterday from the organization.

It is indicative, they add, that the order was handed to them the day before the White Ribbon Day and thus put the organizers in an unfavorable and unprovoked position.

“We, the organizers of the White Ribbon Day, must abide by this order, but we will persevere with judicial and international bodies to sanction all those responsible for denying human rights and humiliating and harassing the families of victims and survivors with such unnecessary and illegal acts.”

They invite all those who will attend the celebration of the White Ribbon Day in Prijedor today to wear the white ribbon all day in visible places.

”We will hold a public gathering on Major Zoran Karlica Square from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Our wardens will not form columns in the usual places, so the arrival of each participant on the square is free. We ask everyone who wears the white ribbon on that day to do so with dignity and to report it to the nearest police officer in case of any provocations or disturbances of public order, “ the association stated, Klix.ba writes.
