The City Council of the City of Sarajevo held its First regular Session

The City Council of the City of Sarajevo, at its first session held today, chaired by Alen Girt, the Chairman of the City Council, adopted the Decision on the legal status of the Deputy Chairman of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo.

In the continuation of the session, the City Councilors adopted the Report on the Implementation of the Program of the 6th April Celebration – Sarajevo City Day in 2025, the Report on the Implementation of the Decision on Scholarships for High School Students from the Budget of the City of Sarajevo, under the Competition for Scholarships for High School Students from the Budget of the City of Sarajevo for the 2024/2025 School Year, and the Report on the Implementation of the Decision on Rewarding High School Students who Achieved Outstanding Results in Official Competitions in Subjects/Fields in the Previous 2023/2024 School Year, from the Budget of the City of Sarajevo for 2024.

The Report on the Implementation of the Decision on the Conditions and Procedure for Accepting the Patronage of the City of Sarajevo in 2024 was also adopted, as well as the Report on the Spending of Current Reserve Funds from the Budget of the City of Sarajevo for the Period 01.01. – 30.06.2025.

The Report on the Execution of the Budget of the City of Sarajevo for the Period 01.01.-31.03.2025 was not adopted at today’s session.

The Information on the Framework Budget Document (FBD) for the Period 2026-2028, Information on Recording and Mapping of Closed and Regulated Sections of Category II Watercourses with Inflow Structures in the City of Sarajevo and Their Maintenance, Information on the Implementation of the Project for the Construction of a Pedestrian Bridge from Bihaćka Street, and Information on the Implementation of Council Issues and Initiatives were taken into consideration.

At the proposal of City Councilor Jasmin Ademović, consideration of the Report on the Work and Operations of JP “Sarajevo” d.o.o. Sarajevo for 2024, the Proposal of the Decision on granting consent to the Decision on the distribution of profits of the Public Enterprise “Sarajevo” d.o.o. for 2024, Information on the work and operations of the Public Enterprise for the management, protection and maintenance of the facilities of the City of Sarajevo and the performance of communal and other activities of public interest of the City of Sarajevo “Sarajevo” limited liability company for the period 01.01. – 30.06.2025, the Report on the work and operations of the Public Enterprise “Olimpijski bazen Otoka” d.o.o. Sarajevo for 2024, and the Report on the work and operations of the Public Institution “Gradski Muzeji” Sarajevo for 2024, were not included in the agenda of the session, and will be discussed at the September session, so that all subjects have enough time to consider them in full.

At today’s session, several councilor questions and initiatives were submitted.

Thus, among others, the Chairman of the City Council Alen Girt, in his capacity as a city councilor, submitted an initiative for the Mayor to submit information to the City Council, for the next session, on the competencies of the City of Sarajevo in the field of communal services, with the aim of preparing for the participation of the bodies of the City of Sarajevo in the process of adopting a new law on communal services of the Sarajevo Canton, the procedure for which has been initiated.

The City Council supported the initiative of City Councilor Vedad Deljković to declare the Association “Heart for Children with Cancer” an Association of Importance for the City of Sarajevo, and it became an initiative of the City Council – the City Council of the City of Sarajevo announced.
