The Commission for Harmonization of the Text of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Excise Taxes in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which was adopted in a different text in the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH (PABiH), yesterday harmonized this law in such a way that excise taxes on fuel are abolished for a period of six months with possibility of extension for an additional three months.
Commission member Sasa Magazinovic (SDP BiH) reminded reporters after the session that the House of Representatives adopted a law in March that fuel in BiH would be cheaper by half a BAM for a period of six months, with the possibility of an extension for an additional three months. Also, the House of Peoples of the state parliament adopted the same law, but with a validity period of only 30 days.
“Today, we reconciled the different positions of the two houses and unanimously adopted that the fuel price reduction is for a period of six plus three months, and not just 30 days, as proposed by the House of Peoples,” stated Magazinovicyesterday.
He told that what now follows is the scheduling of both sessions, both the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the PABiH, which, he hopes, will confirm this decision.
“The fact that we are in the middle of an election campaign does not mean that life should stop. I expect that the chairmen of the chambers, and we will do everything to remind them that they should do it as soon as possible, will call the sessions. If they do not do it, we will do it as representatives, calling extraordinary session by collecting signatures,” said Magazinovic.
Yesterday‘s session of the Commission for Harmonization of the Law on Amendments to the Excise Law in BiH was attended by members: Sasa Magazinovic, Amir Fazlic, Predrag Kozul and Lidija Bradara, while members of the commission Dragan Bogdanic and Dusanka Majkic were not present, BHRT writes.
