The Croatian Parliament on Friday paid tribute to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide with a minute of silence, in which the Serbian army and police killed more than eight thousand Bosniak men and boys 31 years ago, after the fall of the enclave that was under UN protection.

“Given that today is a sad anniversary, it is about the genocide in Srebrenica, I invite you to observe a minute of silence before we begin our work,” said the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Mišel Jakšić.

In July 1995, in the protected zone, which was declared by the UN Security Council and was supposed to be protected by UN forces, the army, police and paramilitary formations committed one of the greatest crimes since World War II in Europe, Hina reminds.
