The delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina used the participation in the session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York for a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of numerous countries. BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković said in an interview with BHT1 live that they intend to finalize the visit in Washington, and that its crown will be a meeting with officials of the US National Security Council.
“This important meeting in the White House was one of our goals, but we didn’t know that we would get there so quickly,” said Konaković, recalling that yesterday he also spoke with the foreign policy advisor at the State Department, Derek Chollet, who he will soon move to the position of Undersecretary for Policy at the US Department of Defense.
Speaking about the proposal of SNSD leader and Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik on protecting the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Konaković said that “it’s great that Dodik is talking about protecting the sovereignty of BiH”, but that the text of the resolution itself is flawed.
“We should start from state property, to agree that the key issue of the sovereignty and integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina lies in the fact that it has its own property, that it is the sole holder and that it can be disposed of by some lower levels if necessary, with the consent of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina Herzegovina and higher levels of government. There is another catch that, it seems to me, the representatives from Republika Srpska constantly mention, and that is that it is ‘made up’ of two entities. It is not made up, but consists of two entities and Brčko District of BiH.” , Konaković said, among other things.
Also, Konaković stated that there is an agreement on the way to replace the existing convening of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of the media reports, but that he believes that this Central Election Commission is disastrous and that under its auspices the biggest election theft took place “since the existence of this state”.
“I’m absolutely in favor of it changing, but I’m not in favor of bringing in theirs and ours, but bringing in professionals, taking care to protect ethics and morals,” he said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina also spoke about how recently the perception of Bosnia and Herzegovina has changed on the international level.
