The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) began this afternoon in Strasbourg discussing the recommendation for the admission of Kosovo to the membership of that pan-European organization.

In front of the MPs is the Draft Opinion on Kosovo’s request for membership, which recommends Kosovo’s entry into the Council of Europe.

The document drafted by the Greek MP Dora Bakoyannis was adopted on March 27 by the PSSE Committee for Political Affairs and Democracy.

In her address today, she briefly repeated the content of the document.

According to earlier announcements, the vote on that draft should take place tonight until 20:00.

If the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopts the Opinion, the final decision on Kosovo’s membership will be made by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in mid-May.
